Sextupole Magnet
A sextupole magnet is an electromagnet with six symmetrically arranged poles, used in synchrotron beamlines to correct chromaticity, the energy-dependent variation in focusing strength. While a quadrupole magnet focuses the beam linearly, a sextupole magnet uses a nonlinear magnetic field component to correct differences in focusing among particles with varying energy. The bore diameter and field gradient determine the chromaticity correction performance.
